How we review

Every rating on this site is built from reviews written by players. This page explains exactly how that works — how a score is calculated, what we check, what we refuse to do, and how an operator can respond. If anything here does not match what you see on the site, tell us and we will fix one or the other.

Where our scores come from

We do not award scores editorially. A casino’s rating is the mean average of every published player review of that casino, on a one-to-five scale, rounded to one decimal place.

That is the whole calculation. There is no weighting for recency, no editorial adjustment, no minimum threshold that quietly hides a bad result, and no paid placement in the ratings table.

Two consequences worth stating plainly:

  • A casino with few reviews has a less reliable score than one with many. We always show the review count next to the average.
  • Review sites attract dissatisfied players more than satisfied ones. Read the individual reviews, not only the number.

What our star ratings mean

Score What players are reporting
5 Withdrawals arrive, terms are clear, support answers.
4 Broadly positive, with specific complaints about wagering or verification.
3 Genuinely mixed. Some paid out, others report delays.
2 Serious recurring problems: withdrawal delays, confiscated balances, silent support.
1 Players report the casino did not pay what it owed.

What we ask players about

A useful review is specific. We ask reviewers to cover whichever of these applies:

  • Withdrawals. Did the money arrive, how long did it take, and was anything deducted?
  • Bonus terms. What was the wagering requirement, and were max-win or max-bet caps disclosed clearly?
  • Verification. What documents were requested, when, and how long did approval take?
  • Account closures. Was a balance confiscated, and what reason was given?
  • Customer support. Did anyone answer, how quickly, and was it a human?
  • Licensing. Which regulator, and did the licence match what the site claimed?
  • Responsible gambling tools. Were deposit limits and self-exclusion easy to find and did they work?

How reviews are moderated

Every submitted review is held for human moderation. We check for a short list of things, and being negative is not one of them.

We remove a review if it:

  • names a private individual, or includes someone’s personal details
  • contains threats, slurs, or abuse aimed at a person rather than a company
  • is clearly promotional, for the casino under review or a competitor
  • is duplicated across accounts, or shows signs of coordinated posting
  • makes a specific criminal allegation we cannot verify

We do not remove a review because:

  • it is harshly worded, angry, or badly spelled
  • the operator has asked us to, or offered us something in return
  • it damages a commercial relationship
  • it is the only negative review of an otherwise well-rated casino

We do not edit the wording of a published review. If part of it has to go, we remove that part and mark the redaction rather than rewriting the sentence.

Verification, and its limits

Reviewers must hold an account here to post, which stops the most casual manipulation. We look at submission patterns, timing and account history, and hold or reject clusters that look coordinated.

We want to be honest about the ceiling: we cannot confirm that every reviewer held an account at the casino they are describing. Nobody running a review site can, and anyone claiming otherwise is overselling. What we can do is moderate consistently, publish the review count beside every average, and leave the individual reviews visible.

If you have proof — a transaction record or a support ticket — send it and we will mark the review as verified.

How we handle affiliate links and advertising

Some outbound links on this site earn us a commission if you sign up. Those links carry a “nofollow sponsored” attribute, and listings that are paid placements are labelled Sponsored where they appear.

Here is the boundary, stated as plainly as we can: no commercial relationship affects a score. Scores are computed from player reviews by formula. There is no mechanism, technical or editorial, by which paying us changes a rating, removes a review, or improves a ranking position. Operators that advertise with us carry whatever score their players have given them, including one star.

If you run a casino we review

You have a right of reply, and using it is free.

  • Respond publicly. Send us a response to a specific review and we will publish it alongside, attributed to your company.
  • Correct a fact. If we have a licence, a bonus term or an ownership detail wrong, send evidence and we will correct the page and log the change.
  • Flag a review for breach. Tell us which rule above it breaks and we will re-moderate it.

What we will not do is remove an accurate negative review, in exchange for advertising or anything else.

Tell us we are wrong

This method is not perfect and we would rather hear about its weaknesses than defend them. Write to [EDITOR@CASINOSLOTPOKER.COM].
